NOTES

Catalogue number: MFP 5214
Release date: July 1971

This album introduced the sports theme for the front covers, which would persist for the rest of the series. (This move was not welcomed overseas, where at least one country designed their own cover - see below.)

This album reached number 1 on the official chart, entering at the very top on August 7. It also reached 12 on the NME album chart.

Perhaps because of its commercial success, at least half the LP was issued on MFP's singles series, ostensibly marketed to children. (See here.)

This was the album which ushered in the familiar oval label design.

As had been the case with Hot Hits 5, the Australian office went to town with Hot Hits 6, completely redesigning the cover. And a great job they did, once again!

The playing order of the LP is unchanged.

Pictured left is a French edition, going by the name, "Pop Music".

It was issued on MFP, catalogue number MFP 5403.

The tracks are in the same order as the UK album, but the sides have been swapped. The track listing on the front cover seems to be in no particular order.

This Greek edition came out on EMI's Regal label.

Their logos are visible on the front and back of the sleeve, which is otherwise unchanged.

The catalogue number is SREG 1012.
